This catalogue includes a critical essay by Dore Ashton and an interview conducted by curator Terence Dempsey with Bernard Maisner in which Maisner states that he loves "the joining of the written word and the visual image in art. The author writes, "Israeli artist Jacob El-Hanani has created his own variation on calligram micrography in his Constructivist style, using minute cursive Hebrew script to form a textured carpet of writing. Although the result differs from the traditional micrograph and calligram, his perseverance proves El-Hanani to be a true descendant of the Medieval masorah scribe." This book was a gift from Arthur Jaffe in honor of the Sackners' 50th wedding anniversary. The hard cover book duplicates with illustrations and explanations the Ketubot (Jewish wedding contracts) created by David Moss from 1971 to the present. The portfolio contains prints of the Seven Blessings recited at a Jewish wedding ceremony.
